With regards to alcohol or drugs, you might have heard a manifestation containing the phrase ‘base out.’ Like, you could heard someone speak about an alcoholic brother saying, ‘If he keeps drinking the way in which he is drinking he’s planning to bottom out, then maybe he will do something about it.’ Or possibly a girl talking about her companion, ‘She just really is not successful, she is bottoming out with all the drinking’? It is a manifestation that’s become more and more popular; however, lots of people remain uncertain as to what it means. What does it mean to ‘bottom out’?
Basically, to ‘bottom out’ is always to hit rock bottom because of a drug or alcohol addiction. When we ‘bottom out’, we let an addiction affect our lives so much that we lose a lot of what’s important to us and we get ourselves into conditions that are difficult to deal with and/or get out of. To ‘bottom out’ is to hit the lower of lows, is to hit ‘rock bottom’, the worst possible place for a person to become. Hopefully, hitting rock-bottom can bring about change for the better. Thinking is that when you can’t get any lower, you can only increase.
Everybody’s meaning of ‘base out’ is different. Everyone has another rock bottom depending on who they are and what’s most important to them in the world and what’s the worst-case scenario for the individual. Very low may possibly include:
* Being expelled from school
* Loss of work
* Inability to keep work
* Loss of possibility
* A break-up or perhaps a divorce
* Loss of family and friends
* Loss of home and/or home
* Creation of physical health issues
* Hurting the others
Because no two individuals are alike bottoming out is just a relative term. For some people, getting arrested for a DUI is a real red flag. It may cause the individual to determine that they must change. For a few people, getting arrested isn’t burning out. The others might lose their loved ones to their addiction before they establish that they’ve an issue. However, some individuals have to go to the bitter end before they are prepared to acknowledge that they need help. Some could even die without ever changing. Hopefully, many people will reach their own bottom a long time before they’ve lost everything and everyone inside their lives.
