Growing Up with Cocaine

Growing up as a movie producer’s son in the 1980’s was no easy deal. There were no limits to the way we lived. Everyone around me acted like they were going to live forever. But that was probably due to all the cocaine that flowed in on every breeze. Sure, from the outside everything looked fine and dandy. And I won’t lie, it certainly was a lot of fun. But after a certain point the fun stopped and an evil world took its place. Cocaine addictions began to take hold on pretty much everyone I knew. Very successful people in the industry, who had the world in the palm of their hands, now had a coke addiction in the core of their beings. No one knew it would happen. It always started out innocently enough. Just try a little at a party and have a good time. Pretty soon events would be fueled by blow. Everyone thought that they were immune or not doing coke enough to become addicted. They told themselves that one toot in the morning to get going was normal and o.k. Maybe have another one because lunch was skipped. And maybe a few in between meetings. But before anyone knew, it would be night time, and that’s the time to party so… And in the 80’s it basically was normal, but never o.k.

Sexual Addiction

Sex addiction is defined as any sexually-related actions connected with compulsivity and obsession. Creating a healthy relationship would be quite hard for a person inflicted with this kind of addiction. The behaviors associated with this addiction interfere with a person’s normal living. Sexual addiction is quite dissimilar from having high sexual drive. A sex addict is dependent on sex. You look for sexual pleasure even from non-sexual objects. A high sexual drive is only associated with aggressive behavior when it comes to sex. People with high sexual drive do not necessarily depend on sex and are able to build a healthy sexual or personal relationship with other people. Sexual addicts make sex a priority over their family, friends, and work. With these, they destroy important relationships with the people who really care for them.

The Evolution of the World and its Nation’s Addictions

T.V., the internet, twitter, facebook, alcohol, cigarettes, food, you name it. People are addicted. It is human nature to be addicted. Do we choose our addictions or do they choose us? Is it in our genes? Who knows? But the fact that we are a nation of addicts remains. National addiction to love. National addiction to the soap operas of other people’s lives. National addiction to the tragedies of the day we find on the 10:00 news. When does it become an addiction? Today we nationally face the ever growing truth of technological over-stimulation. With the bombardment of information that came with the internet, the nation has become dependent on, what else, information. But that is human nature right? Even biblical nature. Ever since Eve ate that apple from the Tree of Knowledge, mankind has been hungry for more. We, nationally, cannot get enough information! It runs our lives! Since we now have worlds of information at our fingertips, we have begun to ask even more questions.
